On February 26, 1954, Reed C. Durham, Jr. and Faye Davis were married in the Logan Temple. They say their marriage has been, “the best 65 years of our lives.”

Faye is Cache Valley girl born in River Heights and a is graduate of South Cache High School. Reed was born in Long Beach, California and is a graduate of Venice High School.

The couple first met in the old bookstore of Utah State University, which was in the basement of Old Main at the time. They both had part-time jobs in the bookstore. Reed asked Faye for a date on Valentine’s Day in 1953 to go to the Sweathearts’ Ball — and that was it. A little more than one year after that, they were married.

Reed worked in the Church Educational System of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for over 40 years. As such, he and Faye lived in many places: Logan, St. George, Provo, Ogden, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Hawaii and Nauvoo — and loved every minute of it.

Of all their activities in the church and other accomplishments, Reed and Faye are most proud of their family. They have seven children: John Reed, Lori Faye (Kim Jensen), DeAnn (Steve Jensen), Paulette (Michael Richards), Mark Thomas (Gretchen Nygaard), Matthew Davis and Jaren Luke (Trisha Liechty). They have 32 grandchildren and 20 are married. They also have 45 great-grandchildren (at last count).

Reed and Faye presently and happily reside in their home on Windsor Drive in River Heights.
