Glen and Julie Smith Kraus recently celebrated their anniversary early, while the whole family could be together.
Glen and Julie met during the 1968-69 school year at Sky View High School while getting after school help from the Algebra teacher. They dated steadily for four years while Julie finished high school and Glen attended Steven’s Henager College, in Ogden, studying business management. Glen also completed Army National Guard Basic Training at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He completed Quartermaster School at Camp Lee, Virginia, advancing to the rank of E4.
Upon Glen’s return from the military, they were engaged on Julie’s birthday, in March, and married on July 28, 1972, in the Logan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Glen was employed at Grand Central, then for Western General Dairies for 30 years. He worked in the trucking/transportation business at various transportation firms over the years, the last being Miller Brothers’ Transportation/Super T Transportation.
Julie attended college for a year at Utah State University and quit to raise their daughter, Stefanie and their son, Brian. The family enjoyed camping, hunting, trips to Salt Lake City and Bear Lake, playing games together and many other activities as a family. Now they enjoy including their six grandchildren in these activities. Their grandchildren are the joy of their lives.
Julie completed her bachelor’s degrees in psychology and social work at Utah State University in 1990 and a Master’s degree in mental health counseling from The University of Phoenix in 2009. She has been a counselor/therapist at various agencies across the Wasatch Front throughout the years.
Glen and Julie love their family very much and are grateful for every minute they are able to spend with them. They appreciate all the many friends and neighbors who have provided support through the years.
