Gaylen William Jensen will celebrate his 90th birthday on Thursday. He was born in Hyrum, Utah on August 30, 1928, to Alice and Victor Jensen. He is the youngest in a family of six children. He was raised in Hyrum along with his siblings Ronald, Kathleen, Leon, Dorothy and Reed. Dad grew up on a dairy farm and has never lost his love for farming and caring for the land.
He graduated from South Cache High School and served in the Army where he was stationed in Japan.
He married Arlene Leishman on October 5, 1950, in the Logan LDS Temple. They have been inseparable ever since, raising their family and farming.
Gaylen graduated from Utah State University. He taught school for 28 years, three in Idaho and 25 years at Intermountain Indian School in Brigham City. After his retirement, he spent his time working on the farm and taking care of their rental properties. For the last 20 plus years, he and Arlene have spent the winter months in Arizona where they have made many friends and enjoyed the warm weather.
Family has always been very important to dad. He enjoys having his family around. Gaylen and Arlene are wonderful parents to their four children; Gayle, Mark, Wayne and Judy. They are also the best grandparents to 14 grandkids and 31 great-grandkids.
Dad is a wonderful example to all of his family. He has taught us the importance of working hard, loving one another, serving, being honest and kind.
Dad will celebrate his birthday with a family dinner.
Happy Birthday Dad! We love you very much. Thanks for being the best dad ever.
