The family of LaVon Maughan will celebrate her 90th birthday on Saturday, June 29.

Gene LaVon Walker Maughan was born in Wellsville, Utah on June 30, 1929, to Morris Clark and Sylvia Maye Myers Walker. She is the eldest of nine children. She grew up in Mt. Sterling on the family farm.

She married Marvin Edwards Maughan in the Idaho Falls Temple on November 9, 1948. Marvin passed away on August 19, 1999. They are the proud parents of six children and one foster child: Jerry-deceased (Charlene Schenk-deceased) (Lucy Nelson), Marva Lund-deceased (Gregery), Darla Moore (Tom), Wendy Lund (Terry), Sheila Jensen (Steve), Kelly-deceased (Ida Mae Waycott), Alfred Benalli. The joy of mom’s life is her family, which includes her 23 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.

LaVon still loves growing a beautiful garden and many have been the recipients of her hard work through the years. She has woven countless rugs on her pioneer loom, along with her many other homemaking skills. She has enjoyed serving in many callings as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
