Fern Nate is celebrating her 97th birthday today, May 18, 2019. She was born in Blackfalds, Canada, but moved to Dingle, Idaho, as a young girl. She graduated from Cokeville High School in Cokeville, Wyoming, where she met her husband, Stanley Nate.
The couple ran away to Randolph, Utah, and got married but were later sealed in the Logan Temple. They spent several years in Hyrum after moving from Cokeville. Fern worked at Central Milling and Design West in Logan. Stan passed away in February of 2013.
Fern is the mother of six children: Lucille Layland (deceased), Cornell Nate, of Stansbury Park; Colleen Nate, of Logan,;Garnett James (deceased), Keith Leon Nate, of Cokeville, Wyoming; and Kent Nate, of Salt Lake City; Fern is a grandmother to 19 grandchildren; great-grandmother to 53 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way in September; and great-great grandmother to several more. Since Stanley’s passing she has lived with her daughter, Colleen, in Logan. She would love to hear from family and friends.
