Ray's 80th

Russell Lynn Ray is celebrating his 80th birthday! He was born April 6, 1939 in Missoula, Montana. His parents, Edward and Aline Ray, raised him and his brothers, Don and Larry in Missoula and San Jose, California. He attended James Lick High School and then Stanford University. He served in the Marines.

While attending Utah State University, he met Marilyn Ericksen. They were married on November 22, 1961, in the Logan LDS Temple. They raised five children: Edward (Yuko) Ray, Jeanine (Darren) Rhoton, Carol (Rick) Nef, LaLine Ray and Jonathan Ray. He has six grandchildren. Russell and Marilyn celebrated 49 years together before she passed away in 2011.

Russell’s graduate education took him to the Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey. He worked for Bell Labs and then as a manager for Mountain Bell in Salt Lake City. He worked as a programmer for HAFB and USU in Farmington and Logan. Russell has found great fulfillment in being a landlord, fixing things, working hard, and being organized. He is a wonderful husband and father. He has faithfully served in many church callings throughout his life, spent many hours working on genealogy, working at the temple, and is still an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Russell married Sharon Alder and together they live in Nibley. They have 10 children, 35 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. They enjoy their time being together, going to the temple, having family get-togethers, watching movies, doing Family History, traveling and living life to its fullest.

The family is celebrating his birthday later this month with a dinner party. Friends and neighbors may wish him a happy birthday. No gifts, please.

His children wish to express their love for him. He is a wonderful example to all of his family. He has taught his children the importance of working hard, loving one another, serving, being honest and kind. Happy Birthday Dad! Thanks for being the best dad ever.
