The Liberty Quartet, an Idaho-based Southern Gospel group, will perform at Emmanuel Baptist Church at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, July 22, in Hyrum.
The quartet, founded in 1995, performs roughly 170 shows each year in the United States and Canada. The original founder, Royce Mitchell, is still with the group singing bass. He started the quartet as a music minister in Boise, and Liberty eventually became so popular that Mitchell quit his job to perform full time.
The Gospel group includes Royce Mitchell, bass; Paul W. Ellis, lead; Derek Simonis, baritone; and Philip Batton, tenor. Based in Meridian, Idaho, Liberty travels many miles each year, ministering in performances for church services, nursing homes, prisons and other ministries.
In 1997, Liberty began traveling full-time. Liberty is celebrating God’s faithfulness and over two decades of ministry.
Liberty has had the opportunity to share the platform with groups such as Gaither Vocal Band, Legacy Five, Greater Vision, the Booth Brothers, the Hoppers, the Isaacs, the Collingsworth Family and many others.
Liberty will also perform later in the night on July 22 at Layton Hills Baptist Church.
