A 10-month old baby boy was transported to Logan Regional Hospital Saturday evening. after he fell 8 feet down an elevator shaft inside a Hyrum home.

Cache County SHeriff’s Lt. Mike Peterson said the residents of the home have an elevator lift inside to assist its elderly occupants. The door to the lift was apparently left open by mistake.

The baby fell down about 8 feet and landed on his back at about 6 p.m., Peterson said. He was taken to the hospital to make sure he didn’t have internal injuries, and as of Saturday evening, it appears the baby may have a broken arm but no life-threatening injuries.
