MONTPELIER, Idaho; February 9, 2021 — Bear Lake High School student Tayson Neal was officially presented a $1,000 jumbo check from Zions Bank during the half-time break of the Bear Lake Bears junior varsity basketball game on Feb. 3. The half-time presentation was particularly meaningful because Neal is a member of the varsity basketball team that played later that evening.

A sophomore at Bear Lake High School, Neal was randomly selected as the statewide winner of Zions Bank’s Pays for A’s scholarship program from among more than 1,500 eligible entries across Idaho.

“Working hard to earn good grades in school pays off in life,” said Steve Allred, manager of the Zions Bank Bear Lake Valley branch. “I’m always impressed with the students we see coming into the bank with their report cards, and it was a pleasure to recognize Tayson with this award.”

Over the past 16 years, Pays for A’s has rewarded thousands of students across Idaho and Utah for working hard in school. Students ages 12 to 18 can participate by bringing their most current term-end report card into any Zions Bank location. Students do not need a Zions Bank account to participate. They’ll receive $1 per “A” deposited into their savings account, or 50 cents per “A” if they opt for cash. For each “A” on their report cards, students are entered into a drawing to win a regional prize worth $500 and a grand prize worth $1,000.
