A 35-year-old Newton man is dead after being run over by farm equipment, according to a press release from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office.
On Thursday around 5 p.m., dispatch received a call regarding an accident at 574 W. 6800 North in Cache County.
Lt. Doyle Peck wrote that two men were working on the equipment with the engine running and a parking brake applied. One of the men had his 3-year-old child in the cab of the machine while they worked underneath.
“The child got down, and in so doing, stepped on the hydrostatic pedal causing the vehicle to lurch forward,” Peck wrote. “One of the male individuals caught by the tire and was run over by the farm equipment, resulting in crushing injuries that were immediately fatal.”
The name of the man is not being released at this time pending notification of his family, Peck wrote.
