Police say the two people involved in a collision on U.S. Highway 89/91 near Nibley on Wednesday morning are lucky indeed because even a small change in circumstances could have easily resulted in a fatal crash.
Logan Police Capt. Curtis Hooley said a 64-year-old Hyrum woman was driving toward Logan at about 9 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, she drifted to the left across the center lane and into oncoming traffic in the area of 2900 South.
The woman’s Chrysler Town and Country minivan sideswiped the side of a one-ton Dodge truck from front to back, Hooley said. The difference of even one foot would have resulted in head-on collision and a possible fatality, he said.
The woman, who was extricated from her vehicle and received only slight injuries, was issued a citation for improper lane travel, while the 21-year-old man in the truck was not apparently injured, Hooley said.
