The Cache County Council officially recognized April as Child Abuse Prevention Month during its meeting Tuesday.
Councilmembers read a proclamation stating that “All children deserve to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment” and noting that the goal of Child Abuse Prevention Month is to help “citizens of Cache County become more aware of child abuse.”
Esterlee Molyneux, executive director of the Child and Family Support Center, spoke to the council Tuesday night in support of the declaration.
Molyneux said she is grateful to the county and community members that have helped the community through the center.
Last year, the center served over 15,000 people through locations in Hyrum and Logan. A new location is coming to Smithfield thanks to a building donated by Intermountain Logan Regional Hospital, which is currently being remodeled by volunteers.
