A preliminary hearing for a Logan man accused of a brutal sexual assault was postponed Monday afternoon after new charges were filed in 1st District Court.

Wyatt Martin, 21, was charged Oct. 9 with aggravated kidnapping, rape, forcible sex abuse, obstruction of justice, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of a firearm.

According to Logan Police, detectives received new reports after the news of Martin’s arrest became public. So far, one investigation has been completed, resulting in a new charge of object rape, a first-degree felony, connected to an incident that allegedly occurred in early September, about two weeks prior to the allegations in the other case.

Court records state Martin met the alleged victim in that case on a dating app and invited her to his home for a party. He is accused of giving the woman alcohol before sexually assaulting her.

Evidence from both cases will be presented in court Nov. 26, where 1st District Court Judge Thomas Willmore will determine if there enough evidence to charge Martin in each case.
