A 44-year-old man who allegedly admitted to having “wandering hands” is facing multiple felony counts of child sex abuse based on allegations that originated in his teen years.

Jared Martindale, who is currently living in Wellsville, was charged Monday with rape of a child and object rape of a child, each first-degree felonies, and two counts of sexual abuse of a child, a second-degree felony.

According to a probable cause statement filed in 1st District Court, two women contacted police recently, saying Martindale touched them inappropriately during the summer of 1989, when each of them was age 10 or younger. Martindale was reportedly 13-15 years old at the time.

Martindale has been held without bail in the Cache County Jail since April 24. During video arraignments on Monday, Judge Kevin Allen allowed Martindale’s release on these charges, although he may be returned to prison for parole violations on unrelated charges.
