A Cache County man accused of sexually abusing a 9-year-old pleaded guilty to amended charges on Monday.
William Logan Kennedy, 65, pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a child. The charges were amended from first-degree felonies filed with the 1st District Court in June.
Cache County prosecutor Dane Murray told the court the victim and family had signed off on the resolution in the case.
According to Murray, Kennedy inappropriately touched a 9-year-old and admitted when confronted.
An affidavit filed with the court states the victim disclosed being touched “over her clothing” on two occasions and one time “under her clothing.”
When interviewed by law enforcement, police wrote Kennedy admitted to touching the child’s leg and “pelvic area” over her clothing. Police wrote Kennedy discussed a third incident where he touched the victim. According to the affidavit, Kennedy said he “woke up to find his hand on (the victim’s) thigh.”
Kennedy “stated that he immediately got scared and stated, ‘I done something I wasn’t supposed to,’” police wrote.
Kennedy is set to be sentenced on Oct. 19.
