The Cache County Nominating Commission selected three nominees to be considered for a judicial vacancy in the Hyde Park and North Logan Justice Court. The position will replace Judge David Marx who retired effective May 1.

Judge Matthew Funk of Richmond, attorney Matthew Lorz of North Logan and attorney Lyndsay Peterson, also of North Logan are the nominees.

A comment period will be held through June 3. Written comments may be submitted by contacting Amy Hernandez at amymh@utcourts.gov.

A final candidate will then be selected by Hyde Park Mayor Sharidean Flint and North Logan Mayor Damon Cann, who have 30 days to make an appointment. The appointment is subject to ratification by the Hyde Park City Council and the North Logan City Council.

The Utah Judicial Council must then certify the appointment.

According to the spokesman for the Utah Courts, this position and that of justice court judge in Logan are two unique positions these individuals would not be considered for appointment in Logan unless they applied and and were selected for that position.
