The Cache County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a stabbing that occurred near Mendon earlier this week.
According to scanner traffic on Monday, the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. after a man was said to have been “stabbed in the stomach,” while another sustained injuries to his eye.
Ultimately, both men were transported for medical treatment.
According to Lt. Doyle Peck, one man underwent surgery for a “serious, but not fatal” wound to his lower abdomen. Peck said it was believed the man had been stabbed with a fixed blade HVAC knife approximately five-and-a-half inches long.
The other man, Peck said, sustained fractures to his eye socket.
“We’re still trying to find out exactly what happened,” Peck said, explaining investigators were in the process of determining the primary aggressor in the incident.
The two men involved were brothers, Peck said, with a shared history of aggression toward one another.
At this time, Peck said, arrests have not been made nor have charges been filed.
