The Forest Service is seeking volunteers for National Trails Day to assist in rerouting the Jardine Juniper trail. The upper meadow section of the Jardine Juniper trail will be re-routed to mitigate erosion. Volunteers will reconstruct a new section of trail, as well as rehabilitating and closing the old, eroded section.
Volunteers will meet at the Jardine Juniper trailhead parking lot near Wood Camp at 9 a.m. Saturday. Work is expected to go through 1 p.m.
The project site is approximately a one-hour hike from the trailhead. Volunteers will be hiking and carrying tools to the project site. Volunteers are required to wear long pants, long sleeve shirts, sturdy footwear, gloves and eyewear. Some tools will be provided, but individuals are encouraged to bring their own shovels, rakes, water, lunch and snacks.
