The children of Ronald True and Thelma Harker Womack are grateful to be able to honor their parents as they celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.
A family celebration will be held on Sunday, June 9, from 4-6pm at the Womack residence.
They were married on June 5th, 1959, in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple. Mother has always had a wonderfully mischievous disposition and an influence for good to all around her. The day they met was Stake Conference and she was out in the parking lot instead of in the meeting. Soon the boys were chasing and she led them right into the building to sit for the meeting! Dad was one of the lucky boys and was soon smitten. It was quite a shock to him to find out, after he had asked her parents permission to take her on a date, that she was still in the eighth grade!
Their lives together have been beautiful, not because life has been easy, far from it, but because they fill their hearts and their home with love and forgiveness. Their home has been very full at that! They adore their 12 children and spouses: Kirt (Lesa) Womack, Trina (Rock) Smith, Scott (Kelly) Womack, Seth (deceased), Jody (Tonja) Womack, Kris (Jennifer) Womack, Julie (Steve) Crosgrove, Mark (Melissa) Womack, Walt (Maramee) Womack, Charity (Dale) Wallentine, Susan Womack, Matt (Erin) Womack. Their greatest treasures, however, are their 63 grandchildren, and 45 great grandchildren, with more on the way.
They both have a soft spot for children and every gathering focuses on helping the children find joy. Dad used to recite Michael Finnegan epics at the dinner table and climb trees and play on the trapeze with the grandkids. He even dug up his beautiful yard to make a water slide and pool! Mom has an uncanny knack for spotting the underdog and making the fun for all.
Mom and Dad have always lived lives of quiet service. They grow an extraordinary garden and have blessed countless lives with the produce and mom’s passion for canning. Mom’s quilts are something special and many have enjoyed the comfort they bring in times of need. They have also served several missions in the Stake, the Family History Library, and as temple workers. Their favorites were the years they spent serving in a castle in England and also in Ireland.
Dad has always been a voracious reader and has an enviable library. The best books, though, are the ones with a little heart sticker on them. Those are the hundreds of books that he and mom have read together.
Thank you Mom and Dad for teaching us by example. Congratulations on this epic milestone from all of us!
