Much good has been happening in Franklin County over recent months, as young men have worked to reach their Eagle Scout rank.

Many have been motivated by the fact that their troop sponsor, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, ended their relationship with the Boy Scouts of America on Dec. 31. The youth wanted to earn the rank before the relationship ended.

Although the Franklin District of the Trapper Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America commonly approved from six to 10 Eagle Scout rankings each month, said Bob Wright, a district commissioner, in December, 50 were approved. Those 50 projects account for about 2,500 hours of service to the community, states their records.
