The Indians began a five-game home stretch with a 57-49 win on Dec. 30 against Mountain Crest. They host Blackfoot at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6 and Twin Falls at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8.
The win makes Preston 8-1 on the season after their 63-51 road win over Logan before the Christmas break. A six-point second quarter had the Indians trailing 19-21 at the half but 24 in the third and 20 in the fourth put them back on top. Eleven of their fourth quarter points were from the charity stripe.
Against Mountain Crest on Dec. 30, the Indians jumped out to a 19-7 lead in the first quarter but lost Brecker Knapp early in the game to an ankle injury. They hope he will return sometime this week.
Preston led 30-19 at the half and though the Mustangs kept the game within reach in the second half closing to within six a couple of times, the Indians didn’t let them any closer. Eight of ten freebies in the final frame helped seal the win for Preston.
Druw Jones led the team with 15 points but Rhett Larson, Cam Hobbs and Steven Roberts added nine each, Tyler Lindhardt six and Kade Lords two for a well balanced game. Knapp scored four before injury forced him to the bench. He was key in the Logan game and led the team with 14 points.
