The Lady Pirates finished out 2021 with wins over Grace and North Fremont, sweeping the series with both. The wins put them at 10-3 to start the new year. West Side will host Bear Lake on Thursday, Jan. 6 at 7:30 p.m. and travel to Aberdeen on Saturday, Jan. 8 for a 7 p.m. game.

Though conference games are never certain, West Side is expected to defeat Bear Lake but Aberdeen will test them. Consistency will be key for the Pirates to secure a win. The teams have similar records and results against common opponents, including district rival Soda Springs.

Trailing 5-6 at the end of the first quarter, West Side made up for it later scoring 12 or more in each of the remaining quarters and limiting the Huskies to 10 or less for a 48-32 road victory on Dec. 29.

Aubrie Barzee and Sienna Fuller led the team with 12 points each. Letti Phillips added 10 and Natalie Lemmon seven.

Against Grace on Dec. 21 , Fuller was the driving force with 16 points. Her steal and basket at the end of the game took away the Grizzlies’ opportunity to tie and secured the 54-50 win. Letti Phillips also contributed 16 points and Laney Beckstead seven in the away contest.
