Preston Golf and Country Club Tuesday Men’s League played a Modified Scramble tournament this past week. Vic and Ethan Pearson shot the low round of the week with a score of 29. In the optional games, the team of Bill Nash and Joe Greene and the team of Loyd Field and Brandon Harris tied for low gross with matching 32’s. Nash and Green won low net with a 30 with Field and Harris finishing second with a 31. All skins were won by the same two teams.
PG&CC’s Open League played a Pick-a-Pro tournament in conjunction with The Open Championship. In the first flight, Max Gregory/Jordan Spieth were first with a total of 65. Craig Buttars/Tony Finau, Loyd Field/Brooks Koepka, and Sawyer Jensen/Rory McIlroy finished tied for second with matching 66’s. Nick Anderson/Brooks Koepka and Sawyer Jensen/Rory McIlroy tied for third with matching 67’s. In the second flight, Karolee Read/Brooks Koepka were first with a total of 64. Barry Hawkes/Dustin Johnson, David Anderson/Rory McIlroy, and Kim Johnson/Rory McIlroy were tied for second with matching 65’s. Kay Swainston/Rory McIlroy, Mike Anderson/Tiger Woods, Pam Anderson/Brooks Koepka, and Steve Anderson/Jordan Spieth finished tied for 5th with matching 67’s. Skins were won by Joe Greene, Steve Croft, Dave Atkinson, David Anderson, Don Newbold, and Kim Johnson.
PG&CC’s hosted the Farm Bureau Insurance Best Ball sponsored by Agent Kevin Degn of Malad, ID. In the Championship Flight gross division, David and Ryan Seamons shot an 11-under par 60 to win by two shots over the team of Conner and Kourtney Knowles. In the net division, Bret Mack and Reggie Gunnell finished first with a 58 and Doug Sayama and Christopher Hunter were second with a 59. In the First Flight gross division, Steve Summers and Syd Sadler finished first with a 2-under par 69. Kelly Knowles and Eric Price finished second with a 73. In the net division, Kay Swainston and Kim Johnson finished first with a total of 54. There was a two-way tie for second between the team of Mo Loveday and Shane Spackman and the team of Jay Olsen and Ken Allen with totals of 61.
The Preston City Amateur, a 36-hole stroke play tournament, will be held the week after the rodeo on Aug. 9 -10. Champ Flight will be paid gross only and all other flights will be net only. There will be hole prizes on every hole every day of the tournament with significant added money. The entry fee is $60 for members and $75 for non-members and does not include cart.
