In Preston the sport of bowling is alive and well as evidenced by success of a Preston team at the 2019 Idaho State Tournament. It was held at Meridian Lanes in Meridian for four weekends - April 13 through May 5 - where over 200 teams participated.
The Wright Angle team comprised of Bif Wright, Jeremy Wright, Nils Olsen, and Alex Inglet performed in a winning way. They brought home to Pop-n-Pins Lanes what may be the first ever team championship for Preston after their scores from the first week of the competition held up and secured them the title.
Three other championships were also earned by Alex Inglet who took first place in the Singles HDCP division with a 836 and first in the All Events HDCP division with a 2366. Inglet also won the title in the Senior All Events HDCP with a 2366. It is an event he also won in 2015.
The team also entered the High 5 tournament while in Meridian and finished in eighth place. It was the first time a team from Preston has participated in that tournament.
“Bowling against the larger bowling house in the state they did very well,” said Inglet.
