The Pirates won Friday's home game 26-20, but it was anyone's game right up to the last seconds. Up by two, 14-12 with seconds left, Firth tackled West Side's Blaize Brown on the sidelines, out of bounds. That moved the Cougars back on a personal foul and into range for the Pirates to score again, which they did. But with three seconds left in the game, so did Firth.

Tied 20-20, the game went into overtime and the Pirates made the final touchdown. "It definitely was a relief that we won," said one fan, because in the excitement, someone ignited the victory fireworks as Firth was running the ball to the touchdown that sent the game into overtime.
