The Utah High School Finals Rodeo is taking over Heber City this week, and several locals will be going after state titles in their respective disciplines.
Several members of the Bear River High Rodeo Club will be competing this week, and a couple of locals from the Spikers rodeo club will be in the arena as well.
The finals begin today and run through Saturday, June 8 at Wasatch County Events Complex in Heber City.
From the Bear River High club, Header Derek Huggins & Heeler McCrae Arbon will compete in team roping. They are currently in sixth place in the state with 55 points.
Sydney Green will compete in barrel racing. She is currently in 16th place with 28 points.
Wyatt Larsen will be going after the saddle bronc title. He currently sits in 7th place statewide with 8 points.
In rifle shooting, Caden Bowcutt is 14th with 4.5 points, while Hayden Kotter is ninth with 37 points.
In trap shooting, Bowcutt is currently sixth with 56 points, while Kotter sits in 30th place. Joining them will be Lance Kent, who sits in 20th place with 5.25 points.
For the Spikers, Hayden Madsen qualified for several events at state. She is currently fifth in barrel racing with 55.5 points, fifth in goat tying with 62 points, sixth in pole bending with 58 points, and 13th in breakaway roping with 42 points.
Also competing for the Spikers is Cooper Stokes, who qualified in steer wrestling in 21st place with 19 points.
